TRILOGY

Is your church/organization planning a special event where you would like memorable music? Trilogy is available for programs which can be designed to meet your specific needs. Ms. Dawson and the Allens reside in North Port and Orlando, Florida, respectively; they are readily available in those general areas. Trilogy may be available for programs in other locales as well. They can be contacted through Mr. Allen's web site information at the bottom of this page or from Ms. Dawson's "Contact" tab on her web site at: www.chimelady.com.
Trilogy is a unique group that brings chimes, bells, and voice to the concert stage with each as the solo instrument. The group also is exploring the special combinations of bells, chimes and voice and bells, chimes, and piano joined in trio. This goes beyond the published pieces for handbell choirs that include a short section for chimes as a melody instrument.
Ms. Dawson uses a 2-octave set of Malmark Choirchimes and focuses on the ethereal quality of the chimes. She uses a fully orchestrated CD accompaniment to enhance the special beauty of the delicate Choirchime instrument. The CD accompaniments have been arranged by her mentor, Betty J. Price and Tim Doran.
Mr. Allen uses a 3-octave set of Malmark handbells and plays advanced level pieces using multiple simultaneous bells. Piano accompaniment supports the handbells' qualities well with some unaccompanied work.
The group's repertoire includes favorite hymns and anthems from sacred music literature plus light classical music, patriotic and popular music, music from other countries, and holiday music.

| Harriet Dawson Chimes |
David Allen Handbells |
Cheryl Allen Vocals and Piano Accompanist |
| Harriet, originally a teacher in Lakeville, MN,
retired to North Port, FL on the Gulf Coast in 2004 with her husband, Bob. She remained active
in church music circles throughout her adult life. With a musical background as a church pianist
and organist, Harriet joined The Joyful Ringers, a North Port Community Bell Choir, at its inception
to give this new instrument (handbells) a try. She wanted to play solos, and when The Joyful
Ringers added chimes to their instrumentation, she knew this was to be her instrument. After
taking a solo ringing workshop with David in North Port, Harriet bought Malmark Choirchimes and studied
with Betty J. Price, a renowned chime soloist. Harriet has played in Florida, Minnesota, Kansas,
Alabama, and California, and has had the privilege to join Ms. Price on a performance at a mission in Mexico. For further information, visit Harriet's website at: www.chimelady.com |
David has performed handbell concerts and conducted
handbell workshops throughout Florida, in several other states (US) and provinces (Canada). He has
become one of the leading innovators in solo handbell ringing and has developed methods to play multiple
parts, demonstrating a pleasing array of melody, harmony, descant and countermelodies in his solo work.
His book, Advanced Solo Ringing: Multiple Bell Techniques, published (June 1998) by National Music Publishers,
teaches these unique skills along with the requirements for their mastery. David has also been accepted
as a solo clinician with Handbell Explorations International and hosted the Exploration in March 2000 in Orlando,
Florida. For further information, visit David's website at: www.david-m-allen.com |
Cheryl has been an 18-year member of the 150 voice, auditioned, Bach Festival Choir of Winter Park, Florida. She has sung in church choirs and done solos from her youth. She also has a private music studio where she is a piano teacher for beginning and intermediate students. |
